Talking at a meeting of the District-level Review Committee on Banking at the Collectorate conference hall this forenoon, Mr. Enos said that bank managers in the district should submit a list of defaulters' to him by July 31. He said bank managers should take special care in disbursing loans under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana in a time-bound fashion. The Collector said that the credit-deposit ratio in the district had recorded a slight increase to 17.72. The total deposits in the comercial as well as co-operative banks in the district was Rs. 6,667.24 crores, of which Rs. 4,093.17 crores was by way of NRI deposits. Mr. Enos said that the banks in the district had disbursed loans worth Rs. 1,193.67 crores in the previous financial year. Of this, Rs. 358.14 crores had been sanctioned in the priority sector, Rs. 144.5 crores in the agriculture sector and Rs. 195 crores in the service sector, the Collector said. The Reserve Bank of India assistant general manager, B.M. Saseendranath, the Nabard assistant general manager, Shaji C. Kurup, the State Bank of Travancore assistant general manager, K. Sadasivan Nair, the Lead Bank manager, Abraham Koshy, and the District Industries manager, Somarajan, were among those who attended the meeting.
