The Principal Secretary, Tourism, Chandana Khan, told media persons here on Thursday that the first such integrated centre was conceived to meet the need for human resource development in tourism, with a proposed annual outlay of Rs. 67 lakhs during the current year. The Centre would function from July 15 at the Film Development Corporation Complex, AC Guards. It would undertake guides training, training to industry stakeholders like tour operators, travel agents, tourism police, customs and immigration officials besides refresher courses to in-service candidates. The centre also proposed to conduct tourism management education at certificate, diploma level under affiliation with AP State Board of Technical Education and Training and Indira Gandhi National Open University. The AP Tourism Development Corporation Chairman and Managing Director, C. Anjaneya Reddy, said that it would be a self-financing institution and a 100-room 3-star hotel would come up as part of the institute near Urdu Bhavan. The APTDC's Punnami restaurant would be opened shortly near Tank Bund.
