dated June 27,1953: East-West Friendship

Speaking at the University of Chicago, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Vice-President of India, declared that East and West had met and exchanged influences over centuries, and there was no need for nations to devour each other, or to regard other people as enemies. Development of religion would lead to world peace — peace which is not merely abstention from hostilities but strong fellow-feeling, he said.
