NEW DELHI JUNE 25. The Railways have successfully commissioned online facility of providing reservation enquiries through Internet on their website: www.indianrail.gov.in.

Enquiries relating to Passenger Numerical Record (PNR) status, which gives the current status of waitlisted ticket, availability of seats or berths between stations, fare and timetable can now be made through this site.

Meanwhile, train reservations on Internet, commissioned on Independence Day-2002, are now possible in 35 cities.

The reservation can be had on website : www.IRCTC.com.

Under the system, the ticket so reserved is sent by courier to the buyer and delivered at his or the doorstep against cash payment.

The website for reservation is maintained and operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a public sector undertaking of the Railways Ministry.
