Saravanakumar among 57 to be honoured

VIRUDHUNAGAR June 25. M.Saravanakumar, a native of Virudhunagar who represented junior India hockey team, which brought laurels to the country in the four-Nation tournament at Kualalampur, Malaysia in January and as many as "57 Budding outstanding Sports persons of Virudhunagar District during 2003"(as below) will be honoured by the Rotary Club of Virudhunagar at the club's installation ceremony of New Office bearers at Sri Ambal-Ramasamy-Pushpamani Hall here on June 29.

M.Saravanakumar (Sports Hostel of Excellence, Chennai) - represented junior Indian hockey team for the four-Nation tournament at Kualalampur (Malaysia); C.Amuthalakshmi (Kshatriya Girls HSS) - represented Tamil Nadu in Volleyball - School Games Federation of India Nationals at Gangev-Rewa M.P; P.Rajkamlesh, (KVS HSS) represented T.N. in Sub-junior Ball Badminton Nationals held at Bhuvaneshwar; A.Harun Enshad (KVS HSS) - represented T.N. in All India Sub junior (Under-14) hockey, Lucknow; K.Dinesh Babu (KVS HSS) - represented T.N. in Football - All India Rural Games meet at Anandpur Sahila - Punjab; P.Subburaj and B.Mohanraj (KVS HSS) - represented T.N. in Football School Games Federation of India Nationals at Siddhi - M.P; S.Karpagalakshmi and 15 others (Kshatriya Girls H.S.S. Team) - represented T.N. in Hockey School Games Federation of India; S.Parvathi Priya and 11 others (V.S.V.N. Polytechnic College Team) - Runner-up in Kho-Kho in inter-Polytechnic State meet at Coimbatore; S.Sivaraman (V.S.V.N.P.C) - Hammer - Gold, T.Manojkumar (V.S.V.N.P.C) - Hammer - Bronze and B.Rubia Josephine (V.S.N.N. P.C) - 100M - Silver, R.Subalakshmi of V.S.V.N.P.C) - Discus Gold in inter-Polytechnic State-level sports meets; R.Vignesh (KVSHSS) - State-level Republic Day Badminton tournament singles winner; G.Muralikrishnan (KVSM HSS) - State-level Republic Day sports meet high jump - Gold, Long jump - Silver; G.Sakila, J.M. Jay May Queen (Kshatriya GHS team), State- level Republic Day sports meet Doubles. F.Kumari, N.Tamilarasi, T.Nagadeepa, S.Muthulakshmi, A.Avadai Parvathi and R.Pandia Rani (V.V.V.Collge for Women Athletes Team) - who were among the medal winners in Madurai Kamaraj University Athletic meet; C.Muniasamy, P.S.Balamurugan, S.Senthilvel (V.H.N.S.N.
