Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Special Correspondent
Mr. Muddahanume Gowda told presspersons that though Mr. Naidu had been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka, he had not expressed solidarity with the State. He had failed to espouse Karnataka's cause, and should therefore resign from the Rajya Sabha. He said Mr. Naidu had also turned a blind eye to the "partisan moves" of the Centre in allocating foodgrains under the Special Component Plan. Karnataka had received 6.65 lakh tonnes while Andhra Pradesh had got 46 lakh tonnes. However, Mr. Muddahanume Gowda did not see anything wrong in the reported statement of another member of the Rajya Sabha from the State, Vijay Mallya, who had spoken against the attitude of opposing the release of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu. Karnataka could not avoid releasing water to Tamil Nadu, he said. On the failure of the Congress MPs from the State in defending its interests on the floor of Parliament and outside, Mr. Muddahanume Gowda said that after all they were not against Karnataka as was the case with Mr. Naidu. About his exclusion from the State ministry, Mr. Muddahanume Gowda said that he was a loyal follower of the Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, and it was his prerogative to include or exclude anyone from his team of ministers.
