Nagappa's family to move HC

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore June 25. The family of the former minister, H.Nagappa, whose body was found in the forests last year after being kidnapped by Veerappan, is planning to approach the Karnataka High Court seeking an investigation by the CBI. The slain JD(U) leader's family filed affidavits before the one-man judicial commission headed by R.C. Vaidyanatha here on Wednesday. The commission also received affidavits from the public and one from the Kollegal JD (U) leader, Ponnachi Mahadevaswamy. Nagappa's son-in-law, Kiran Patel, said the former minister's family would file a writ petition in the Karnataka High Court since the State Government had not responded to its request to hand over the probe to the CBI. Nagappa remained Veerappan's hostage for 105 days before his body was found in the forests. Mr. Kiran Patel said the Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, and the Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, were treating the matter "callously" as was shown by their reported statements that the tapes sent by Nagappa while in captivity and those sent by Veerappan were lost.
