They demanded that works be taken up in villages to provide employment to the needy for about a month. The 10 per cent contribution from the people to the cost of implementing drinking water projects under the Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Technology Mission should be exempted in view of the drought. U.Basavaraj, General Secretary of the CPI(M), V.S.Shiva Shankar, K.Gadilingappa, Vishwanath Swamy, Haleshwar Gowda, among others, led the dharna.
