According to the police, one Sharad Srivastava had stopped his scooter on Shamshanghat-Link Road intersection around 4 p.m. Two young men came on a scooter and hit him from behind. Sharad's scooter hit a man standing in front of his scooter. The three picked up a fight with him and forced him to part with Rs. 500 and his mobile phone. A Delhi Traffic police constable, deployed at the intersection, took note of the incident and rushed to help Sharad. He managed to nab one of them, identified as Vijay (22), a ruffian of Nabi Karim. Vijay's associates managed to escape along with the booty. They have been identified as Aman, a ruffian of Sadar Bazar and Naveen, a ruffian of Nabi Karim. A case of snatching has been registered at the Mandir Marg police station and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
Burnt to death
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws at Bhajanpura in North-East Delhi on Monday. The father-in-law and the sister-in-law of the deceased were arrested today. According to the police, Radha, who was married to Mahesh, a resident of Vijay Park in Bhajanpura, 45 days ago, was admitted to GTB Hospital with burn injuries under mysterious circumstances and died yesterday. Radha's family members told the sub-divisional magistrate conducting the inquest that they had given a scooter as dowry in the marriage.
