NDPL puts billing data on Net

NEW DELHI JUNE 19. The North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) today launched a unique initiative in consumer care by uploading the billing data and history of all its eight lakh consumers on to its website. The website has facilities to print duplicate power bills, pay from net, view the consumption graph and payment details.

Managed by Tata Power, NDPL is responsible for distribution of electricity in North and North-West Delhi and is one of the three discoms in the Capital, the other two being the Reliance Energy-managed BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.

Christened "Sugam'', the consumer care initiative of NDPL was inaugurated by the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, at her office this morning in the presence of the Power Minister, Ajay Maken, and the NDPL Chief Executive Officer, Anil Sardana.

``This (Sugam) would bring the much required transparency in the billing procedures and enable people tohe Quran by a Maulvi. It was his ability to play the clarinet which got him a job in the royal band during the rule of Sawai Madho Singh.

An official of the State Bank of India had brought the fact about Habib Mian's age to the notice of mediapersons here a couple of years ago after detecting the year of his retirement in his pension certificates. As a mark of respect for his age, the bank now delivers his pension at his residence every month.
