The Government would bear the expenditure at the rate of Rs.5,000 per acre or 50 per cent of the total expenditure, whichever was less for the LI schemes' revival, he said at a press conference here on Thursday. He said Rs.60 crores was released from his department to the Agriculture Department for the supply of seed, fertilizer and agricultural implements on subsidy basis. It also sanctioned an amount of Rs.30 crores to the Fisheries and Rs.12 crores to the Animal Husbandry departments. The Andhra Pradesh Tobacco Growers' Federation Limited was so far given Rs.15 crores for purchasing tobacco by directly participating in the auctions. It is proposed to release another Rs.2 crores and as soon as the Chief Minister approves it the amount would be given to the federation. Mr. Anjaneyulu said he received some complaints from tobacco growers regarding the non-participation of the federation in the auctions and on which he summoned the federation Chairman, Chunchu Sesaiah, and asked him to look into the matter immediately. The Marketing department has also allocated Rs.2.59 lakhs for provision of physical infrastructure like sheds and drinking water at 57 tribal shandies being run under the Girijan Cooperative Corporation, he said. He said the Government is taking all steps to ensure the supply of sufficient amount of seed to farmers in the current kharif season.
