Maintain communal amity, says CPI

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD June 8. A delegation of the CPI, led by its secretary, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, went around the disturbed areas in and around Mallepally on Sunday.

The team met people of both communities and asked them to maintain communal harmony. In a press release, Mr. Reddy said it was unfortunate that the inspector at Habeebnagar police station could not handle the situation.

He said the judicial probe ordered by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, should have a fixed time-frame, investigate the sequence of events, identify the culprits and bring them to book.

The delegation, including Azeez Pasha, secretariat member, V. Ram Narasimha Rao, city secretary, and Prem Pavani, general secretary, A.P. Mahila Samakhya, appealed to the Commissioner of Police, M.V. Krishna Rao, and the Deputy Commissioner (West Zone), Anjana Sinha, to take steps to restore normalcy.

CPI(M) picketing

The CPI(M) would organise picketing outside the office of the HMWSSB at Khairatabad on June 13 in protest against the acute shortage of drinking water in the city.

P.S.N. Murthy, secretary, City Committee, said for the past week party cadre had been going around bastis on a survey to assess drinking water problems being faced by people.
