CBI probe into death of Minister's servant begins

JAIPUR JUNE 8. A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has started its probe into the mysterious death of a domestic help of the Rajasthan Home Minister, Gulab Singh Shaktawat.

The seven-member team, led by DIG Harvansh Singh, today met the brother and father of the deceased, Badanlal. The two had alleged that Badanlal, whose body was found near the railway tracks near Durgapura railway station in the city on May 22, might have been murdered.

Yesterday, the team visited the site where the body was found.

The State Government had recommended a CBI probe into the matter after Badanlal's brother Rooplal demanded that a murder case be registered. Police had initially lodged a suicide case at the Sanganer police station. A case of murder was registered at the Sodala police station later following court orders.

Rooplal had contested the police claim that his brother had committed suicide by throwing himself before a running train. There was a bullet wound on the head and "we are convinced that he was murdered," he said in a petition.

He demanded that Mr. Shaktawat and the guards at his residence be brought under the purview of the probe. — UNI
