The Assistant Sub-Inspector, Ghulam Rasool Wani, the SHO at Sogam in Kupwara, and constable Abdul Ahad, were arrested two days ago, the Superintendent of Police (Kupwara), S.D.S. Jamwal, told PTI. They have allegedly confessed to their involvement in a suicide attack on Lalpora police station and CRPF personnel recently in which two jawans were killed and four injured, he said. The duo had accompanied a militant to the police station a few days before the attack to familiarise him with the area and facilitated his movement around security frisking points also. He said the "fidayeen" attack was foiled by the alert police personnel who even managed to snatch the rifle from the militant. But the assailant managed to flee. The militant was arrested following identification by a policeman in the Kupwara market two days ago and his interrogation led to the arrest of the two. They might be involved in more such cases and efforts are on to ascertain this, the SP said. PTI
