Madhya Pradesh
By Our Special Correspondent
To be inaugurated by the BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu, the highlight of the two-day meeting scheduled to begin on June 14 will be the release of the `chargesheet' in the presence of Uma Bharati who is being projected as the party's chief ministerial candidate and the Union Minister and election in-charge of Madhya Pradesh, Arun Jaitley. The 12 counts on which Mr. Singh will be held guilty include developmental issues. The thrust of the `chargesheet' will be that no development has taken place in Madhya Pradesh because of rampant corruption. Also, the `chargesheet' will seek to expose Mr. Singh's claims to success in the realm of education and health. According to the BJP, the State's performance in education and health was below the national average. And, if Madhya Pradesh has been successful in controlling its population growth, the BJP's contention is that it is not a positive development as it is the result of high infant mortality rate and not low birth rate. This apart, the party is planning a visit of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, to one of the tribal districts of the State in the third week of this month. Though the venue and date are still being worked out, indications are that Mr. Vajpayee will travel to a tribal district on June 16 or 17.
