Submit Azhagiri letter, court tells Karunanidhi

CHENNAI JUNE 7. A city court has issued notice to the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, asking him to submit two letters on party matters, which are required in connection with the probe into the May 20 murder of the former Minister, T. Kiruttinan, in Madurai.

Following a request from the jurisdictional court in Madurai, the chief metropolitan magistrate has issued notice to Mr. Karunanidhi to submit by June 18, the letters — one written by the party chief's son, M.K.Azhagiri, on certain allegations against the former Minister and the other, Mr. Kiruttinan's explanation to Mr. Karunanidhi. Mr. Azhagiri was among those arrested in connection with the case.

The notice, served through the Chennai police, was received by the party treasurer, N.Veerasami, on Friday, according to the police.
