BJP blames media for 'AIADMK ties'

By Our Staff Reporter

KARAIKUDI June 7. The BJP State general secretary, H. Raja, today blamed the media for "creating the impression that the party is moving closer to the AIADMK."

Talking to presspersons here, he said the BJP was "open-minded" on the question of alliance, though a decision would be taken only at the time of Lok Sabha elections.

He explained that the BJP had not shared a common platform with the AIADMK on any issue, though the DMK, had unilaterally severed its ties with the BJP in the State and joined hands with the Communist parties and the Congress in conducting common agitations on issues such as anti-conversion law, despite being an NDA constituent.

The party's State unit was concentrating on expansion of its organisational structure by recruiting `full-timers'. The process would be completed before August 1.

Mr. Raja gave a clean chit to the former MDMK Minister, Gingee Ramachandran, saying the latter had to resign ``for the acts of his staff." However, Mr. Raja welcomed the MDMK leader's decision to quit the Ministry owning moral responsibility.

On the emergence of a third front in the State, he said though the Congress Jananayaga Peravai leader, P. Chidambaram, wanted to lead such a combine, ``people could not be hoodwinked.''
