By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, JUNE 7. Three persons taken into custody by the Chennai police in connection with the mysterious disappearance of the CPI(M) leader, Prasad Sebastian, will be subjected to a polygraph test in the next two days. They include a woman, her husband and their employee.

The Joint Commissioner of Police (Chennai Central), M. K. Jha, told The Hindu over phone that the three were being subjected to a polygraph test since some of the explanations provided by them were nor satisfying. He said that the test would be held at Chennai itself and the polygram for the purpose had been made available to the Chennai police.

The husband and wife, Suresh Babu and Indu, taken into custody are family friends of the missing person. They reside at Chennai and it is understood that Mr. Sebastian visited their house on May 29, police said. It was after that he went missing.

The other person taken into custody is a manager of Mr. Babu's business concern.

Mr. Jha said that investigations conducted so far into the case had not been able to provide any lead.

CPI(M) calls for probe

The CPI(M) has called for a serious probe into the mysterious disappearance of the party's Punalur area committee member and Leader of the Opposition in the Punalur Municipal Council, Prasad Sebastian, since May 29 from Chennai.

In a statement here today, the CPI(M) Punalur area committee secretary, S. Jayamohan, said that Mr. Sebastian had been leading a virtual war against corruption and rackets based in Punalur.

He had even filed a case in the High Court requesting the launch of an inquiry into the operations of a money chain racket. It was following this that the Crime Branch had launched an inquiry into it.

He had launched agitations against the "corrupt" practices at the Punalur Municipal Council, especially against unauthorised buildings. Some false stories were being spread against Mr. Sebastian in order to divert the pace of the police investigation, Mr. Jayamohan alleged.
