While individuals were slapped a fine of Rs. 50, groups which had come here for picnic were challened Rs. 150. The civic body had deputed a large number of police force and private security guards to move around the park and identify persons who littered the area. Such persons were then taken to the Municipal Magistrate who was holding his court in one corner of the park. "The drive was undertaken to create a general awareness among the visitors to kick the habit of leaving behind waste papers and plastic bags in the garden,'' the NDMC official said. This was the second such special court in Lodi Garden. The first one was held on May 11 when 32 litter-bugs were challaned and the NDMC collected Rs. 1,950 as fine from them. "The civic body has decided to set-up special court to remind Delhiites of their civic duties in parks,'' the official said. In another development, the NDMC also organised a Lok Adalat at Palika Kendra to dispose of cases pending in various courts relating to different services of the civic body. Held under the aegis of Delhi Legal Service Authority, the Additional District Judge, Sangita Dhingra, settled eight of the 11 cases across the table. The remaining three were adjourned for the next Lok Adalat.
