Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Special Correspondent
The Congress is the only alternative to the people suffering under the `anti-people regime' of Chandrababu Naidu but a divided party would not be welcome for them, he said. Recalling his long association with the party (he completes 50 years of political life next year) the PCC president said he was fortunate to serve the party in various capacities. Hard work and sincere commitment to the party would go a long way in elevating a humble worker to the top position, hence the cadres should not feel disappointed, he said encouraging the youth to take an active role in struggles. The misrule of Mr. Naidu must come to an end soon as people are tired of listening to promises that are hardly kept, he said. Several senior leaders of the APCC hailed Mr. Rao as a successful leader who could tide over the cross currents of dissidence and yet strive to unite leaders and cadres. Tracing his long political career, they said Mr. Rao came up the hard way in life. Completing three years as the PCC president is a unique achievement as no one so far could do it, they said. Among those who spoke were G. Venkataswamy, T. Subbirami Reddy, Kesava Rao, G. Venkat Reddy, J.C. Diwakar Reddy, J. Ratnakar Rao, P. Goverdhan Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Geeta Reddy, N. Bhaskar Rao and P. Sudhakar Reddy. The PCC media cell brought out a colourful souvenir highlighting the agitations and programmes undertaken by the PCC in the last three years under the leadership of Mr.Rao. It was released by Mr. Subbirami Reddy and the DCC presidents of Cuddapah and Karimnagar. Earlier, the PCC president was given a traditional welcome to the venue by vedic pundits.
