The website was inaugurated by K.Padmanabhan, Chief General Manager, Karnataka Telecom Circle, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. Guillermo Wille, Managing Director, John F.Welch Technology Centre, General Electrical (GE) was present. Through the website the association aims at providing better information to the visually challenged and also help them avail facilities and services rendered by it. Information on subjects such as mobility, education, vocational training, and computer education is provided by the website. The association informed that the website would be constantly updated for the benefit of the blind. The site has been designed to be user-friendly and simple for both the blind and normal persons who can see. The site gives details about services offered and how any organisations or individuals support the association. Facilities for online registration for training and placement for visually impaired persons will be made available, according to Saroja Ramachandra, President of NAB. Other information posted on the website include those on the history of the National Association for the Blind, recent events, case studies, and details about whom to contact and so on. Details about the schemes offered by the State and Union Governments are given. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited provided free web space and GE Elfun helped in designing the website.
