They were residents of Malathahalli. Gutted: Twelve pushcarts and a moped were gutted in a banana mandi (market) at Urs Colony in Thyagarajnagar Police Station limits on Tuesday night. Sources said the pushcarts of banana vendors were gutted by the time fire tenders arrived on the scene. .The cause of the fire was not known. The market had come up on disputed land. Police said they were ascertaining if there was any foul play. Attempt to murder: An autorickshaw driver, Vinuth Kumar, was attacked allegedly by an anti-social element and his associates at 11th Cross, Ittamadu, Bhuvaneshwarinagar, on Tuesday night. Police said the accused were armed with choppers and knives. It was suspected that an old enmity was the reason for the attack. Vinuth Kumar has been hospitalised. Traffic cases: The traffic police registered 109 cases against BMTC bus drivers for violations of traffic rules during the week ended on April 19. As many as 4,009 autorickshaw drivers, 9,036 two-wheeler riders, and 1,299 lorry drivers were also charged with various offences during the week. The largest number of 4,193 cases was booked for parking vehicles in no-parking . Thirteen people were killed and 171 injured in 192 accidents reported during the week, according to a press release here on Wednesday.
