According to the police, the dacoits entered the house of Surender Aggarwal, a resident of E Block in Preet Vihar and owner of sanitary fittings factory at Dilshad Garden, around 11-30 p.m. The dacoits climbed the boundary wall of the house from the backside which faces a railway track. They then managed to enter into the house through the terrace. The family's servant, Arjun, who was sleeping in the drawing room, woke up after hearing some noise. He was forced by the dacoits to go into the room where Surender, his wife and his 11-year-old son, Shubham, were sleeping. However, Arjun raised an alarm hearing which Surender's 26- year-old nephew, Amber Aggarwal -- who was sleeping in an adjacent room -- woke up. The dacoits entered his room and attacked him. While two wielded knives, the other three were in possession of country-made revolver. Amber sustained stab wounds on both his arms. Hearing the commotion, Surender Aggarwal, woke up and opened the door. Immediately, one of the dacoits snatched the golden chain he was wearing. "Surender immediately closed the door which prevented the dacoits from entering the room where his wife and son could have been attacked,'' said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Nuzhat Hassan. The dacoits ransacked the house and managed to escape with some valuables around 2 a.m. Later, the police recovered the mobile phone, golden chain, a briefcase, a pair of shoes, a club card and a wrist watch which the dacoits had managed to take away. Firearms, live cartridges and knives were also recovered from them. Aggarwals informed the police immediately after the dacoits left. "After similar dacoities were reported last year, we had deployed patrolling teams on the railway tracks. One such team led by ASI Prakash Singh started trailing the dacoits who were trying to flee along the route,'' Ms. Hassan said. Prakash alerted the Nirman Vihar picket in which direction at least one of the accused was seen moving. Head Constable Radha Kishan and Constable Ram Ayodhya posted there kept following the man. In the meantime, Constable Sajuddin, who was on motorcycle patrol, also responded to the call and managed to nab the suspect, later identified as Vilayat Hussain, a native of Bangladesh, near a park. At the instance of the accused, five others were arrested from their hideout at Aali village in Badarpur, South Delhi. They have been identified as Aziz, Kamal, Mohammad Zahid Hussain, Kabir and Muneer Hussain. All of them are natives of Bangladesh and have been involved in cases reported from Sadar Bazar, Pandav Nagar, Kalyanpuri and Gokalpuri. Muneer Hussain is the leader of the gang. The modus operandi of the accused seems similar to the one adopted by gangs arrested earlier. Their links, if any, with "border operators'' are being ascertained.
