To invite complaints from students and parents about lack of infrastructure, faculty strength, laboratory and hostel facilities, the university issued a public notice through newspapers. Several complaints were received, and on the Vice-Chancellor's instructions, a team of officials visited the institutions, according to a university release. Eight categories of deficiency, including inadequate faculty strength, lack of basic amenities, unqualified staff and collection of next academic year fees during the time of issuing hall tickets, were noticed in the Perumal Samy Rishi Engineering College, Silavattam, Madurantakam; the Deendayal Engineering College, Kunnavalam, Thiruvellore district; the Sakthi Engineering College, Oragadam; the J.A. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Parukkal, Cheyyar taluk, and the Annai Teresa College of Engineering, Tirunavalur, Ulundurpet. Show-cause notices had been issued to these colleges, the release said.
