Sivasankari takes lead

Chennai April 23. P. Sivasankari of Thiruvallur district took sole lead at the end of the seventh round of the Ramco 17th Tamil Nadu State sub-junior girls chess championship for the Arasan Kalyanasundari Ammal Trophy.

Today two rounds were played in this championship at the Hall of Chess, Nehru Stadium. Only two more rounds remain in this event organised by the Chennai District Chess Association.

Sivasankari scored a facile victory over K. Radhika of Thiruvallur district after she won a queen for just a rook.

In the game between the two Salem sisters, Ishwarya Shobana defeated her younger sister L. Sudarshana who left the hall in tears.

Shobana is half a point behind Sivasankari.

In the Ramco 29th Tamil Nadu State sub-junior chess championship for the V.L. Ethiraj Trophy, S. Arun Prasad joined T. Abhay at the top of the points table. Both players are from Salem and have six points each.
