``I'm not going to be there when the 2007 World Cup comes. It's better to groom a young guy with the World Cup in mind,'' Tillekeratne told a news conference in the capital Colombo. The 35-year-old left-handed batsman was appointed Test captain after Sanath Jayasuriya quit following Sri Lanka's early exit from Sharjah tournament earlier this month. Tillekeratne, who will remain Test captain, has scored 3,789 runs in 200 one-day appearances, including 13 fifties and two centuries. He was also a member of the Sri Lankan squad that won the 1996 World cup under Arjuna Ranatunga. However, Sri Lanka's first round exit from the 1999 World Cup saw Tillekeratne out of international cricket for two years. He returned to represent his country in 2001 in Tests and secured a place for the latest World Cup that concluded last month in South Africa, where Sri Lanka reached the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Australia. Tillekeratne has played 73 Tests so far and scored 4,025 runs including 18 fifties and 10 hundreds. He will lead the host in a Test against New Zealand starting on Friday. AP
