Two held in boy's murder case

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD April 22. The mystery behind the sensational kidnap and murder of a 18-month-old boy, Sai Ashrit, was cracked by the Kukatpally police with the arrest of two persons.

Ashrit was kidnapped on December 1, 2002, from Prashank Apartments in Kukatapally. Two days later, his body was found in a bag on Mumbai V.T. railway station platform. The police took into custody two persons -- Laxminarayana Choudhary (family friend of Ashrit's parents) and his assistant, Ravinder, on Tuesday evening. Though the police suspected the involvement of Choudhary, the latter moved the High Court to prevent his arrest pleading he was no way connected with the case.

Fire at IT firm

Fire broke out in the Shanti Shikhara apartments in Somajiguda late on Tuesday night in the office of a software company located in the second floor. Office furniture and some computers were gutted. Nobody was injured in the accident.

As power supply to the office was disconnected, the company's watchman, A. Bheem Reddy, lit a candle while having his dinner. He went downstairs at around 11 p.m. The staff members of ETV, located in the third floor, noticed smoke and flames. On being alerted, fire service personnel put out the flames.
