Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
The mini bus of the Forest Department had been withdrawn to install railings on the front windshield as part of enhancing security measures, according to a department official. The Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department, which looks after the park, allows only their mini bus to enter the safari park. The park, which was reopened after maintenance works such as strengthening the 20-foot high fencing and the roofing of the cages done at a cost of Rs.54,000, had reopened only recently. As visitors can watch the King of the Jungle roaming around freely in the forest the park has been drawing huge crowds since the beginning of the domestic tourist season. The safari park, which was started in 1985 with four lions in 12 acres, has nine lions, including three males, at present.
