The Indian team led by Sourav Ganguly returned home on Tuesday morning. The Indian captain did not speak to the media saying there was nothing much to say about the tournament. Later he along with three other Indian players left for Siliguri where they were to be felicitated. Wright and physical trainer Adrian le Roux, here to meet the Board president, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, in connection with the extension of their contract, spoke to the media briefly on Tuesday afternoon. The New Zealander thought that the Indian Board's decision to encourage the India A tour was positive. "Such tours would bridge the gap between India's domestic and the international standard,'' he said. Though the Indian team had a handful of players who represented India in the World Cup, newcomers like medium pacer Avishkar Salvi and left-handed opening batsman Gautam Gambhir drew a lot of praise from the coach. Wright was of the opinion that both showed a lot of promise and should do well in the days to come. Wright also praised the role of skipper Ganguly. "He showed a lot of maturity in leading the side from the front. He also did well with the bat,'' the coach felt. The coach said the overall show of the side during the tour was good excepting the two games prior to the finals. Later, Wright termed his meeting with the Board president Mr. Dalmiya as `positive'. Speaking to reporters at the airport before leaving for home on Tuesday evening, Wright said he had a fruitful meeting with the president. "I cannot disclose anything about the meeting. You will have to ask Mr. Dalmiya on this. I can tell you that I am leaving for home ''very relaxed,'' he said. Mr. Dalmiya was expected to brief the working committee of the Board, coming up early next month, on the discussion he had with Wright.
