This Day That Age
Khwaja Nazimuddin, deposed Prime Minister of Pakistan, was fighting a forlorn battle claiming that, as the Governor-General had no powers to dismiss him, he was still the de jure Premier. Meanwhile he was asked to vacate forthwith the official residence of the Prime Minister in Karachi. A report said that he had secured a two-room flat in a distant part of the city to put his luggage in and had spotted a house to live in. For this house, he was asked to pay Rs. 24,000 as pugree and rent at Rs. 200 per month. Mr. Nazimuddin had offered to pay a higher rent of Rs. 300, but no pugree.
