Lost forever

Sir, — Iraq is called the cradle of civilisation. The looters devastated not only Baghdad but also the National Museum and the National Library. The coalition forces were unable to control the looters who ransacked some of the most valued treasures. But they were able to, from day one, protect the oil fields. By this wanton act, they destroyed the world's cultural heritage.

Syed Moinuddin,
Chennai
