NEW DELHI APRIL 18. The Union Agriculture Minister, Ajit Singh's threat to move the courts against the sugar mill owners has evoked a strong response from the former Minister, Balram Jakhar, who described it as a political stunt. According to Mr. Jakhar, Ajit Singh ought to have concrete measures as the Minister in- charge, rather than threaten legal action. "This is nothing but double standards, he files a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in his personal capacity but does nothing to help the lot of the farmers as a Minister". He also lambasted Mr. Singh for merely paying lip sympathy to the cause of the farmers, instead of using his position to help their cause.
