Mr. Krishna instructed the Chief Secretary, B.S. Patil, to take disciplinary action against Mr. Acharya, who is the Principal Secretary for Information, Tourism, and Youth Services, and in-charge Secretary of Bijapur District. The Chief Minister held a meeting of officials and legislators on the drought in Bijapur on Thursday. Mr. Acharya, who belongs to the 1974 batch of the IAS, had been assigned the task of reviewing the drought situation in the district and coordinating with the Deputy Commissioner of the district and the Chief Executive Officer of the Bijapur Zilla Panchayat. The Chief Minister ordered disciplinary action against the officer, irked by his absence at the meeting. Mr. Acharya was required to brief Mr. Krishna on the problems faced by the people and the administration.
