After his first karting experience which he described as `exciting and thrilling', Tendulkar, attired in a red-coloured MRF bodysuit, expressed interest in taking part in karting events. He is a follower of the Formula 1 races. Last year, he took time off during the tour of England to meet Michael Schumacher at Silverstone and was presented a Ferrari. MRF, a major player in motor sports events in India, has scheduled a race between the top three batsmen in the world — Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and Brian Lara — at Danny's Karting in Chennai on July 6. All the three cricketers are MRF's brand ambassadors. The two-day event in Chennai on July 5 and 6 will mark the start of the 2003 MRF-MAI season. Five more events will be held at Kolkata (subject to approval, Sept. 20-21), Pune (Oct. 4-5), Mumbai (Oct. 25-26), Nagpur (Nov. 22-23, subject to approval) and Bangalore (Dec. 20-21). The MAI has decided to promote only four-stroke karting and the CIK World Kart Formula, which has been adopted by many countries in Asia, Far East and some European countries.
