Racing : Motor
After his first karting experience which he described as `exciting and thrilling', Tendulkar, attired in a red-coloured MRF bodysuit, expressed interest in taking part in karting events. He is a follower of the Formula 1 races. Last year, he took time off during the tour of England to meet Michael Schumacher at Silverstone and was presented a Ferrari. MRF, a major player in motor sports events in India, has scheduled a race between the top three batsmen in the world Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and Brian Lara at Danny's Karting in Chennai on July 6. All the three cricketers are MRF's brand ambassadors. The two-day event in Chennai on July 5 and 6 will mark the start of the 2003 MRF-MAI season. Five more events will be held at Kolkata (subject to approval, Sept. 20-21), Pune (Oct. 4-5), Mumbai (Oct. 25-26), Nagpur (Nov. 22-23, subject to approval) and Bangalore (Dec. 20-21). The MAI has decided to promote only four-stroke karting and the CIK World Kart Formula, which has been adopted by many countries in Asia, Far East and some European countries.
