Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
They said construction activities had not only blocked drains but also cut off water supply to parts of the area. The Hennur Main Road Varthakara Sangha organised a meeting on Monday in which officials of the Railways, Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, traders and residents participated and discussed the issue. While the traders demanded that the length of the bridge be reduced and that a road with a railway gate built under the bridge, the Railway officials expressed their inability to do so. The officials reportedly told the residents that any change in the plan would mean change in estimates. ``The length of the ramp as per the plan is 258 metres. This means we have to cover a stretch of 2.5 km to reach the over bridge. "If a railway gate is provided under the bridge, we can cross the road easily,'' the Sangha's General Secretary, Shakeel Ahmed Hussain, and Colleen Samuel of the Divya Shanti Trust, said. ``The officials have not informed us about the plan. Not one plan or drawing has been made public so far. We are told and shown old plans and the revised plans are not revealed,'' the members alleged. The corporators, Padmanabha Reddy, R.Shankar and Marimuttu, who attended the meeting, promised the residents that they would organise a meeting with the Mahanagara Palike Commissioner and senior officials from the Railways soon to resolve their grievances.
