Prepare for polls, Cong. workers told

By Our Staff Correspondent

HASSAN APRIL 7. The AICC Secretary, Ved Prakash, who is in charge of the party's affairs in Karnataka, today urged party workers to be prepared for "impending" elections.

Participating in an interactive meeting with the workers and representatives of various wings of the party at the Congress Bhavan here, he said elections to Parliament and the Legislative Assembly in Karnataka "could take place at any time", and advised leaders to galvanise the party machinery.

He hoped the Congress would come to power both at the Centre and State with a big majority, and urged party workers to work hard to achieve the objective. Criticising the NDA Government at the Centre, he said that it had not only failed on all fronts but had been involved in scams in the past three years. He alleged that the Defence Ministry had allowed commissions in the purchase of coffins bought for martyrs in the Kargil operation.
