According to Prashanth Koorapati, founder and CEO of V9 Broadband Technologies, his company has already developed the prototypes for a subscriber-end box capable of handling rich media content over the next generation networks. The company will be spending around $3 million in the next six months on further product development and commercialisation. Both companies expect a big market for the solutions initially among expatriate Indians eager to receive multimedia content from India. V9 is negotiating with Singtel/Starhub for deployment of the first phase of this network in Singapore. V9 also hopes to work with BSNL to deploy this technology throughout the rural hinterland in India.
