dated April 8, 1953: Police force and political events

Interesting interpellations arose in the Madras Legislative Assembly when the Chief Minister, Mr. Rajagopalachari, said in reply to a question that one Inspector, two Sub-Inspector, and five constables had been deputed on duty to the Nanal Nagar session of the Indian National Congress. They had been sent at the request of the Central Intelligence Bureau, Rs. 545.10 had been spent on their travelling allowance, and the State would try to get that amount from the Centre.

Mr. C.V.K. Rao: Did more Police than delegates attend the session?

The Speaker: Order, order.

Mr. P. Venkateswarulu: Will the Police be sent to conference of other political parties?

The CM: Whenever danger is apprehended to life and property.
