Gaddar seeks withdrawal of POTA

HYDERABAD April 6. Noted balladeer Gaddar questioned the State Government's motive in reviewing the POTA case slapped on the Sayampet MLA, K. Surekha, even while continuing it on noted writers like Riviera, who was arrested in Prakasam district recently.

The POTA should be withdrawn immediately, he said, at a programme organised to observe the sixth anniversary of attack against him here on Sunday. The programme was organised by `Jajjjanaka Kala Mandali'.

Mr. Gaddar promised to continue his fight against state violence till his last breath. He said he would never side with the Government under any circumstance and would be conscious of the sacrifices made by the poets and writers.

Stating his song would never die, he said it was people's love which had saved him from bullet injuries. All the political parties, whenever they were in power, attacked free thinking on the part of intellectuals, poets and writers. There was a need to fight this tendency, he said.

The civil liberties activist, M.T. Khan, and others spoke. Arunodaya Sanskrutika Samakya and Dalita Kala Mandali presented a cultural programme.
