This was announced here today by the CPI (M) general secretary, Harkishan Singh Surjeet, and the Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar, while addressing the rally organised to mark the conclusion of the three-day national conference of the All India Agricultural Workers Union (AIWU). Mr. Surjeet recalled that the BJP-Led NDA Government was unwilling to condemn the U.S. attack on Iraq during the earlier all-party meeting that the Centre had convened. But in view of the growing public opinion against the U.S. aggression and the strident postures being taken by the U.S. regime on the Kashmir issue, the BJP appears to be rethinking its positions. But even now the BJP has not condemned the US attack on Iraq in unequivocal terms and the attempt of the Opposition in the Parliament will be to pass a unanimous resolution condemning the U.S. aggression, Mr. Surjeet said. The leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, P. Ramayya, and A. Vijayaraghavan, MP were among those who spoke on the occasion.
