Anti-malaria programmes to continue

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM April 6. The hospital development committee (HDC) of the Valiathura Government hospital, which met here on Saturday, assessed the progress of malaria prevention programmes and the development activities to be taken up in the hospital.

The in-patient wing, which was opened here following the outbreak of fresh malaria cases, will continue to function here on a permanent basis.

Though so far only nine indigenous cases of malaria have been reported in the district, the squad work is being intensified as some more cases could be expected in the coming days. Medicines for malaria patients have been supplied by the district administration.

The spraying of `Solfac', which has been found to be very effective in vector control, will be continued, it was decided at the meeting.

Some maintenance and renovation work has already been initiated in the hospital and the district administration has released some funds for the purpose.
