Sania Mirza takes honours

HYDERABAD APRIL 6. Sixteen-year-old Sania Mirza has added another feather to her cap.

She picked her maiden singles title in the ITF Grade I category when she outclassed Tara Iyer of United States 6-2, 7-5 in the final of the Mitsubushi Lancer ITF Grade I juniors tennis tournament in Manila, according to information received here on Sunday.

Sania is now expected to jump to No.11 ranking from the current 32.

This effort is also expected to book her a berth in all the Junior Grand Slams later this year.

India missed yet another success when the sixth seeded pair of Karan Rastogi and Somdev Dev Varman lost to Aussie-Dutch duo of Lachlan Ferguson and Jimmy Schneider 4-6, 4-6, in the boys' doubles final.
