dated April 7, 1953: New British airliner

A Vickers Viscount 700, Britain's largest propeller-driven jet turbine airliner, which had been in Canada making flight trials in wintry conditions, arrived back in London on the 5th.

The Viscount was the first turbo-prop airlines to fly across the Atlantic. Trans-Canada Airways had ordered 15 Viscounts for their use.
