Dawood's brother remanded to police custody

Mumbai March. 21. Iqbal Hassan Ibrahim Shaikh, the younger brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and two others were remanded to police custody till March 27 by a special court in a case of alleged extortion and land grabbing under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Iqbal was deported from Dubai on February 19 and was arrested in a murder case. On March 6, he was booked in the case of land grabbing along with co-accused for offences under the IPC and remanded to custody. The remand period was extended today.

Meanwhile, the prime accused in the 1993 bomb blast case, Mustaffa Ahmed Dossa, was remanded to CBI custody till April 7. — PTI
