Naxals loot villages

MAHABUBNAGAR MARCH 21. In the first famine raid in two years in the drought-hit Mahabubnagar district, People's War naxalites looted two houses last night.

According to information reaching here, the PW's District Committee Secretary led a 50-member armed group into Siddapur village of Amrabad mandal. They raided two houses belonging to Malipeddi Srinivasulu and Juluri Ramanatham.

They informed the villagers that it was a famine raid and decamped with the booty worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs. Among the group, around 20 members were civilians and the rest belonged to Achempet, Kalvakurthi and Upper Plateau squads of the PW. Police are yet to reach the village.

According to a Hyderabad report, the PW Rachakonda dalam raided a rice shop in Chintapatla village in Yacharam mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Thursday night and took away rice bags.
