This Day That Age
The annual passing-out parade of the Police Training College was held in Vellore on the 20th. One hundred and fifty cadets had graduated to be posted as Sub-Inspectors. Mr. T. G. Sanjeevi, Inspector-General of Police took the salute at the march-past of the cadets. Later he told them that they had been especially taught to value efficiency as police officers and properly understand their relationship with the public. Cadets of the previous two years had generally done well, but quite a few had turned bad, yielding to temptations and resorting to high-handedness. He wanted the outgoing cadets to emulate their good predecessors and set a good example to the constabulary under their control. If they slipped they would end up compromising their position and authority, he sternly warned. Mr. Sanjeevi decorated with a gold medal P. Joseph (Cadet No. 67), the best trainee of the batch.
