V. Kasi, RI at Harur in Dharmapuri district, was trapped by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption personnel on March 5, 1990 under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act for `having demanded and accepted Rs. 100 from Kannan for processing an application to issue a small farmer certificate for free power supply'. He was found guilty by I Additional District Judge-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate at Krishnagiri on July 15, 1996, and sentenced to six months RI, besides a fine of Rs. 500. Justice P. D. Dinakaran said:``The prosecution has established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt, adducing overwhelming and flawless oral and documentary evidence.
