NCW team to probe Muthanga incident

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 21. An investigative team of the National Commission for Women (NCW), led by its chairperson, Poornima Advani, left for Wayanad in Kerala to probe the firing incident on tribals in Muthanga on February 19. The three-member team will investigate only the issues relating to women and children, particularly the problems faced by them following the incident. The NCW had received complaints from the tribal women alleging police atrocities and torture. The team, which includes Nafisa Hussain and Sunita Basant, will also meet the tribal leader, Janu.

According to a NCW spokesperson, the team will return on March 23.
