NEW DELHI March 5. The Afghanistan President, Hamid Karzai, arrived in the capital from Kabul this evening on a three-day visit which will also take him to Shimla. He was received at the airport by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Digvijay Singh.

Mr. Karzai will meet the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and the External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, tomorrow.

A preferential trade agreement to cover import of dry fruits and fruits from Afghanistan will be signed in the presence of Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Karzai.

Keeping up the tempo of assistance, a fresh batch of 57 buses was handed over by Mr. Singh to the Afghan Reconstruction Minister, Amin Farhang, today.

So far, 192 buses have been handed over by India to Afghanistan.

Sources said the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship would be discussed. The prevailing situation in Afghanistan would also come up.

The Zaranj-Dilaram road — which India has promised to build in Afghanistan — an indirect link to the Chabahar port in Iran is also to be taken up.
