Five naxals, five Janashakti sympathisers surrender

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR March 5. An important dalam member, four militants of the PW and five sympathisers of the CPI-ML (Janashakthi) surrendered before the Superintendent of Police (SP), Ravishankar Ayyanar, here today.

Presenting them at the press conference, Dr. Ayyanar said that Dasi David alias Sudhakar alias Ravindra alias Sudershan, who carried a reward of Rs. 1 lakh over his head, surrendered to the police. He served as a member of Dachepalli dalam, Nallamala Forest Division and Bellamkonda dalam. A TAD case was registered against him in 1992 in Guntur and he was involved in many an offence. David belongs to Nizampatnam of Guntur district.

An interesting fact about him is that he served in the Signals Regiment of the Indian Army as a soldier from 1988 to 1991. After coming out of the Army, he was "influenced'' by his associate, Srikanth. His associate used to tell him that the real fight was not on the borders, but within the country. Patriotism should be shown by participating in the fight within the country. David told presspersons that he was misled by his associate. He realised that nothing could be achieved if one pursued the PW's principles.

David came out of the dalam two years ago and began moving underground. Responding to the call given by the SP, he said he decided to surrender and join the mainstream.

As many as four militants of the PW, three from Veldurthy mandal and one from Dachepalli mandal, also surrendered before the SP. Another five members, who were sympathisers of Janashakthi in Takkellapdu village of Dachepalli mandal, also surrendered. They were enjoying the endowment land and paying cess to the trustee.

Posters released

Dr. Ayyanar released a novel poster to enable more and more naxalites to join the mainstream. The poster comprised many photographs causing frustration among naxalites and their family members about their miserable lifestyles. The picture of D. Jeeva Ratnam, who suffered burns after torching the Krosur telephone exchange, and the photo of Sunkara Aseervadam in jail, his being taken to court and his wife wailing outside his house were printed on it. Some more pictures kindling hopes on life were also printed on the posters. The pictures of constables receiving the surrendered naxalites with bouquets, the photographs of surrendered naxalites receiving cheques and auto-rickshaws towards rehabilitation were printed on it. The poster was entitled "Realise truth and change your ways at least now.''
